MTS-5100 - Protective Relay Test System

MTS-5000/5100 Advanced Operation: Automatic Ramping

\n

\nThis video shows you how to configure automatic ramps in the MTS-5000 or MTS-5100 Protective Relay Testing System. You can use this feature to smoothly and simultaneously ramp currents, voltages, phase angles and frequencies. The precision of automatic ramps means they\xe2\x80\x99re repeatable, so you get exactly the same ramp rates every time you run the test. That simplifies pickup testing, especially when more than one value has to be adjusted during a simulated fault. Precise ramps are of course also important when the element being tested responds to \xe2\x80\x9crate of change\xe2\x80\x9d. Usually that would be frequency rate of change, as found in frequency relays such as the ABB SPAF 140 C and SPAF 340 C, GE DFF or RMS 2H34. Frequency rate-of-change (81R) elements are also found in multifunction relays such as the Beckwith M-3401 and M-3520, SEL-351A, SEL-751A, as well as GE UR-series relays such as the F60, D60 and T60.
